Why do some believers say that they are “sinners” when God’s Word says that they are a “new creation”?

Why do some believers say that they are “sinners” when God’s Word says that they are a “new creation”?
I made a special request to the Lord to show me that he was with me. I asked him to show me a yellow butterfly.
