Spiritual Growth

Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1

My husband and I have had the privilege to be part of something unique happening this week – a prayer caravan going around the perimeter of Fort Worth praying for God’s glory to manifest in this city leading up to the local elections on May 1st.

Every morning by 6 AM we’ve met with another pastor at different locations to plant a red stake on the ground (symbolic for the blood of Jesus), and take off to drive around loop 820 praying and declaring God’s Word over the city. Each day has been a different experience and focus praying for the different “mountains” of influence that govern our cities. Sunday the focus was family, Monday churches, Tuesday education, and the remaining days will focus on media, arts/entertainment, business, and government.

In addition, we pray for Israel and the Jewish people – for salvation and their eyes to be opened to receive Messiah Yeshua.

Lessons I’ve learned so far:

  1. It’s a privilege to intercede taking on a priestly role and standing in the gap for people, our communities, and our city
  2. When God puts a burden for you to intercede for others, you do it wholeheartedly
  3. Not everyone shows up
  4. The need is great and the laborers are few

When Jesus was on earth and went about in different villages teaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, He was compassionate about the crowds that gathered to listen intently to His teachings…

He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:36-38

As we’ve stepped in a new position in the Kingdom, all the more I see the massive work to be done and so few workers. I’ll certainly be more intentional in praying daily for the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest field.

I see an awakening happening in the Body of Christ. Many are sensing a call to deeper prayer and reading the Bible daily. That is the work of the Holy Spirit wooing His people to deeper intimacy.

I also sense a storm coming. And this is why the Spirit is awakening many so that we may stand strong in our faith.
